Relationships are hard work.

Each partner in a relationship brings their own preferred way of relating, their own preferred way of managing crises, their own background issues and blind spots.

The resulting cocktail can be exciting, demanding, exhausting, challenging or just plain hard work. Getting the best out of relationships requires skills that many of us have never learned. How to be clear about what we would like, how to negotiate, how to express anger and disappointment constructively.

These skills can be learned and practiced. Whether you work together, parent together, live together or just need to explore your relationship, couples counselling can provide a space for you each to hear the other and be heard, a space where actions and reactions can be slowed down and explored, a space where each partner can learn new ways of managing their own issues and responses leading to clearer and more satisfying communication.
